It's a gloomy, rainy day in the Big D. Let me just say, without a trace of irony, "Praise Jesus."
The perfect soundtrack for a day like today? Zero 7's Simple Things.
The senses consume. The mind digests. The blog expels.
Certain individuals keep telling me that I should be a writer (Hi Mom). This is probably as close as I'll ever come to making that happen.

The rain is great! I keep staring out my window like I've never seen it rain before!
I'm glad to know it's not just me!

Anne: Turtle and I were discussing the brown patches in the yard, yesterday, which she diagnosed as a grub problem.
"Hmm," I said. "I put down the grub stuff in May. Couldn't just be that the lawn's only getting, like, a sneeze worth of moisture each week, could it?"

Yeah. Thanks a whole friggin' lot. Now I've got that stuck in my head. Looks like I'm going to have to break out the The Prodigy's Experience CD to dislodge that.
I could start humming Tom's Diner to get Mark Chesnutt out of your head.

Rainy Days and Mondays. Wasn't that a hit song by the Carpenters back in the early 70s? Good Lord, I'm really dating myself now! I think this song debuted in the same time period that I was riding my green Schwinn Varsity 10-speed to high school. Even wore those metal clip things just above my ankles so my corduroy bell-bottoms wouldn't get caught in the chain. Yikes!
Nothing wrong with occasional rain...tends to wash out nasty stuff like pollen...
